Yay! We made it 15.5 months! Before you attack our babyproofing skills, let me tell you we weren't at home. Here's the story for you. It is a beautiful day (with a bleary forecast coming up) so mama and child go to the park. Mama of newly mobile child lesson #1: parks are utterly filthy and disgusting right after the snow melts. Mama of newly mobile child lesson #2: child MUST find every piece of said filthy disgustingness and try to eat it. UGH. After taking away several wrappers, pop cans, etc. mama turned around to take a bite of lunch and heard a "blech blech!" Whip around - child throwing travel size deodorant container on the ground. Mama takes away container shouting "icky!" and then notices that child is making a funny face and spitting. Panic. While repeatedly shouting "ick! ick!", mama uses hand to swipe at tongue of child, grabs water bottle and helps child drink a lot, and gives child the rest of his plum. Mama then screws up her nose while peeling back the warning label on deodorant container and reads "if ingested, contact poison control immediately." Not "if copious amounts are entirely consumed, you might want to give poison control a ring." So mama calls the daddy (who is at home making a sandwich) and asks if he can call since mama doesn't have the number. Daddy does so and reports back that poison control says to rub the tongue and mouth with a cloth to remove any more, give child food and water, and make sure his tongue doesn't swell up and he should be fine. siiiiiiiiiiigh. At least the mama did everything right before being told to. No tongue swelling, no issues, THE END.
