13 months old!

Everett is 13 months old today! Here's a brief update on him.

Everett can:
walk, run, feed himself with a spoon, use a sippy cup on his own, play a recorder and kazoo, chase and run away from people and animals, pet the dog, stack blocks, make cars vroom, point to things he wants, show me pretty things, bring me things when I ask

Everett can say (they don't all actually sound like this, but I know it's what he means!):
moo, baa, dada, kitty, ball, hi, vroom, bark, oooh!

Everett has:
12 teeth!, a fantastic smile and laugh, a sense of humor, a love for pretty things, skis, too many toys, not enough long sleeved onesies

Everett loves:
running to see daddy when he gets home from work, kitties and dogs, spinning, swinging, jumping, and dancing, chasing and tickling, finding things and giving them to me, reading books, waving bye bye out the window when people leave, brushing his teeth and hair

Everett does not like:
getting into his carseat, sitting on his potty for more than 5 seconds, when someone ignores him, baby dolls, diaper changes

These 5 Items

Take a look at these five items. Brian found them (two egg poachers, a race car, a nuk, and a party blower) all together today in a not so normal place. This is after I spent about an hour this morning looking for our three remotes (under the couch, in the toy box, and under the chair, just in case you were wondering). Want to take a guess at where they were?

Yeah, so they were in the litterbox. Say it with me now, "EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!"

Here's a picture of Bri and Ev playing together:And Ev and Dr. Grandma reading a book:
And it's been a while since I posted a video, so here's an example of what a day is like when I'm home with Ever.

Skiing Baby!

Please pardon the crappy cell phone quality pictures - a certain mama forgot her camera (of all things!). Everett went down the hill 5 or 6 times (in two outings...the rest of the time was in the lodge), despised his goggles, refused to stand up, but giggled when he was going fast. Auntie Christy is convinced he'll be racing by age 4 (or something like that). They also managed to get me down the hill a few times (never downhill skiied before), and of course, I got myself a nice little sprained wrist and can't do anything with my left hand. :(

You won't believe what Ev did

He peed in his potty. I am so serious! The past week or so, he has consistently been peeing on the bathroom floor as we run his bath. So the other day, I got his ikea potty down from the attic and tried sitting him on it before his bath. He cried until I let him off. And then peed on the floor. I think Brian got him to pee in it two days ago by putting it in a strategic location. Then last night, I took the advice of someone on thebump (message board I frequent too much) and set the potty IN the tub, held him on it there and started the tub. Aaaaaand he peed! (Running water is apparently an irresistible cue.) I did a lot of hooraying and cheering and clapping and Ev looked at me with a face that clearly said, "you are absolutely nuts, mother." Hey. Whatever. My 12 month old peed in a pot. We'll continue the bathtime routine and hopefully it will be a nice preparation for when we really try to do this in a few months. Yay Everett!

New Pictures

In case you hadn't heard, we had/are having a blizzard. So work was cancelled and I spent the day with the Ever monster. We managed to get out in the snow for a while too. See?

The other day, I thought Ev looked too cute while sleeping, so I snapped some pictures as he was waking up.

Also, we've been having those horrendous nights again where Ev wakes up around midnight and is inconsolable. Turns out he has two molars half-way in. EEK! Let the herbivoring begin!

My Uncle Chuck

Just had to share!

Ev's First Adventure in Snow

We have finally gotten some appreciable snow in Ashland, so we took Ev out in his new snow suit to celebrate. He looks like the Michelin man because it is rather large on him still, but he was very warm. He has trouble walking with all of his clothes, and espically his giant puffy boots on so he kinda just stood there in the snow, then fell over. The picture isin't great because it came from my cell phone, but you get the idea.

Birthday Party

We had Everett's first birthday party today! It was a wonderful party that fell right between naps and Everett loved every second of it (especially the whole being the center of everyone's attention part). Here's a visual recap! I worked my bum off on the cakes and finally finished them at 10:00 today (party at 11:30). Ever was impressed. He was actually saying "oooo" when I took this picture. It's his new favorite thing to say. He'll point and say "ooooo" when he sees something interesting and especially for pretty things.

Here's a closer look. This is his Goodnight Moon cake. A chocolate cake topped with a yellow cake and decorated with marshmallow fondant and frosting.

And this is his smash cake. Pumpkin chocolate chip with cream cheese frosting, marshmallow fondant circles and 1 on top and frosting along the bottom.

Ever in his "1st Birthday" shirt, laughing at a balloon

Getting tickled by uncle Karl

Time for cake!

He was very gentle with his "smash" cake.

Presents!

"Here, mama!" What a nice sharer.

And then we spent the rest of present time like this. He looooved his fishbowl from Gammy.
I'll try to get a picture of all of his loot later. He is currently napping with a new stuffed kitty.
