Brrrr

This December, we have been having temperatures that are more typical for January.  Today we are slated for a high of -3.  Yes, negative three.  The windchill puts us around -30.  I made the executive decision that we will not be leaving the house today.  Luckily, Brian's down in Indiana for work, so he hasn't been having to commute in this the past few days.

I am finally done shopping for christmas and as soon as my last two packages decide to show up, I can finish my wrapping too.  We decided that there was way too much commercialism and stress going on and we would not be doing presents for adults this year.  We still got harassed so there are a couple things coming to grandparents.

Everett is in a love/hate relationship with preschool.  He loves being there but insists that he hates it.  He's always happily playing when Callum and I show up to get him at 3pm.  He has lots of friends there but still has to always be with his best buddy, Kenleigh.
He's recently discovered a love for Harry Potter.  I got a bunch of the DVDs for $2 each on Black Friday at Walmart so we've watched the first two and he wants to watch the third, but I can't remember at what movie they start getting rather scary.  I will have to do a little review reading today to see if 3 is ok or if we'll have to rewatch 1.
He had a great birthday party at splashland this year.  He invited 5 of his friends (and their siblings) and had pizza, cake, and lots of water sliding.  He even got to play in the arcade afterward and discovered air hockey and I managed to win him a packers teddy bear from the claw machine.

Callum is a fiesty, loving little bug.  Well, not really little at all, actually.  He talks all the time, is still obsessed with tractors, and loves wrestling his brother at every opportunity.  He is really attached to daddy right now and whenever he's home, Callum's on his leg or lap.  He wanders around the house at his leisure, bringing toys downstairs, reading books, and watching Mighty Machines.

Boy #3 is wiggly and makes me eat way too much chocolate.  I think he's going to be a pretty easy-going guy.  At both ultrasounds we've had, he's just chilling with his arms behind his head.  Relish it while it lasts, kid.  You're quickly running out of stretching room.

39 weeks

Oops, I'm an hour late this morning and all my blog stalkers are probably thinking I've gone into labor.  Well, gone into being a flexible term.  I've kind of been in labor for a week and a half (in my opinion).  Still no outside baby though!

Also, a quick mention of my lovely little toddler boy.  We have plenty of fights with him about mess making, tantrum throwing, disobeying, etc. but sometimes that boy makes me forget all of those instances.  Last night, I felt like crap and came downstairs after changing into pajama pants and a large t-shirt.  Everett looked at me, pointed, and said, "pretty Mama!  pretty!"  My eyes got a little bigger, I looked down at my shirt and said, "my shirt is pretty?"  He just repeated, "pretty mama!"  Brian stated that he's teaching Everett to always tell me I'm pretty.  My boys are pretty awesome.

So here's the weekly update.

How far along?  39 weeks.  6 days short of when Everett was born.
Total weight gain/loss:  27-ish lbs.  Lost one this week!  I just can't fit as much food in my stomach anymore.
How big is baby?
Baby is probably now over 7 lbs and over 20 inches.  He's the size of a nice little mini watermelon.  Belly is measuring 39.5cm though, so I think he's a little on the big side.  I don't think I ever measured that big with Ev, which would explain the lovely stretch marks I've grown this time.
Maternity clothes?  Yes.  I have decided to wear as many maternity clothes as I can before baby's born because I can still wear my big, regular clothes after baby is born, but won't want to wear maternity stuff.
Stretchmarks?  yessss.......
Sleep?  I was ready to give up yesterday after being up much of the night and finally just giving up at 6 am.  It's amazing how much different I feel when I get a good night's sleep (like Sat/Sun nights and last night) versus when I am up with contractions repeatedly (every other night since last Tuesday or so).  So yesterday = bad day, today = not too shabby.  I'm not begging baby to get out today.
Best moment this week?  Everything's ready.  Well, except the house being clean, but you know....
Movement?  He's still wiggling in there.  He obviously doesn't have as much kicking space, but he still manages to wiggle a bit.
Food cravings?  Coke and chocolate.  Healthy, right?  At least I'm still eating some good things like smoothies, flax/wheat cereal, grapefruits, carrots....
Bellybutton?  Same.
Boy/Girl?  Boy.
Labor signs?  We're slowwwwwllllly making progress.
What I miss? Sleep, bladder capacity, non-aching belly skin, having the energy to play with my Ever monster.
What I am looking forward to? Baby.
Milestones:  We're done.  Cooked.  Ready.  Time to be born.  Hear me, little guy????

Newborn Knitting

I finally took some pictures of my recent projects and wanted to share!
Newborn stuff - so tiny!!!

Coming home hat and booties:

Swirly hat:
I've also made another pair of wool longies, but they are still missing their elastic, so I haven't taken a picture yet.

And here we are at full term!  37 weeks, 1 day! (My face looks tired, my hair is messy, and the thermostat on the wall looked like it was attached to my head....so headless it is!)

Pictures

Realized I hadn't linked to my awesome maternity photos taken by my awesome friend, Colleen.  Not sure if this will work, but here's the album on facebook.

And here's a 35 week shot today.

And for comparison, Everett at 34w2d

Home recovering from a stomach virus.  I decided it wasn't worth it to go into work, possibly infect everyone, and overdo it when both doctor and husband are still out of town.  Yep, now Brian's staying at least one more night so we won't see him until at least Thursday afternoon.  Luckily, I'm functioning, just very very tired and moving slowly.  I took Everett in to daycare since he has no symptoms and would benefit more from his organized schedule and playing with his friends than sitting at home watching daytime tv/wiggles with me all day.

And some cute shots that were still on the memory card.

Bagels and Tantrums and Bellies, oh my!

New pictures for y'all!

The reaction I get when I tell Everett to move so he's not in my belly picture (also the norm around here).  Think we're ready to be 2?:

22 week picture

I realized I had to get a picture this week because our little blueberry muffin is at 22 weeks of development and our big boy Everett is 22 months old!  So before Brian left on a trip to Iowa today, I made him snap some quick pictures of me and the little devil on my beautiful new couch!  Happy birthday and merry christmas to me!!  Loving this thing.  See where I am sitting?  That's my new habitat.  Oh, and don't mind my hair....it was a little insane today and I didn't care.

Tonight, Everett and I also carved our pumpkin!  He kind of participated.  He liked to hit the pumpkin with his spoon and then stir up the gunk in the bowl.  He also thought it was cool that I put a candle inside (since that's a word he knows).

In sad news, we lost our beloved pumpkin hat on Saturday.  Everett is quite confused whenever we go to leave and he runs to get his "punkin! hat!" only to be told that we lost his hat.  Luckily, I found last year's model (not the prettiest, not wool, and a little bit small), so life will at least go on.

I'm currently working on hemming some new used maternity jeans while I relax alone tonight in my 70 degree house (hee hee!).  Everett wanted to go to bed already because he is excited for daycare tomorrow.  I cannot express to you how happy it makes me to see the boy excited about daycare rather than crying about it.  He also loves reciting the names of all his friends at daycare.  He must really have a good time, so I am one happy mama.  On another happy mama note, we tried storytime again today and Everett was decently well-behaved.  There was no pushing or crying.  He even voluntarily sat in his chair and listened to the first story.  He had to run off to play a few times, but very patiently waited for his cookies and coloring book at the end.  I was so proud!  He even got a little upset when a tiny little girl touched a truck he was playing with but I asked if he could get a toy for the baby and he thoughtfully picked out another truck and pushed it over to her.  sniffle!  Seriously!  My little tiny baby is getting so big!

In baby news, not much going on.  I finally got my $15 eGift card from wal-mart for refusing to sell me a misprinted $58 carseat.  So now I'm trying to decide if I should buy this beautiful beautiful carseat with it

or something else.

The carseat is really the only thing we absolutely need to buy before the baby arrives, which is kind of crazy.  Well, that and a few tiny diaper covers.  Other than that, everything is really just extras that I would like to have.

Anyway!  Enough blabbering for now.  I need to get moving on that hemming!

Belly picture 21 weeks

Here's two shots of this week's belly.  One with larger sweater removed for better view of actual baby bump.

And here's what happens when daddy is watching Everett and not quite paying attention to the fact that it is nearing naptime.  Everett goes and gets a blanket and pillow off the couch and lies down on the kitchen floor while daddy makes apple pies.

Belly picture 20 weeks

There are a few this week because Everett participated.

Kisses for the baby:

In the middle of saying, "hugger!"
I just like this one.  Everett's saying, "WHAT?!  a baby?!?" (or not, but you know.)

Orchard

We went up to Bayfield to see scarecrows and visit an orchard today.

Before we left - this is apparently how Everett lets us know he's cold:

The first one this pregnancy.  Oops.  You know, things just got in the way.  Camera battery needed charging, toddler needed chasing, hair needed washing.....yeah.  But here it is!
And for funsies.  Here I was at 16 weeks, 4 days with Everett:

See a slight difference?  Yeahhhh, me too.

Tomorrow=Full Term! [36w5d]

No baby yet. I think I will now start every post that way. :) I decided that since we have no idea when we might be able to have our last date night for a while, we had better do something about it. So last night, Bri and I went out to Applebees. (I wasn't super hungry and didn't really feel like trying somewhere new.) We had a very nice time and took advantage of their 2 for $20 deal - which meant we got spinach artichoke dip AND two meals! Yum! Then we stopped by McDonalds to pick up a redbox movie and watched Leatherheads at home. Good flick, especially if you have an unhealthy fondness for Duluth.

Today we had to do laundry, take out the trash, stop by goodwill to get rid of some things, return some sheets at Target, get a giant bag of craisins from Sam's, stop by the lab (where I watched CSI on netflix while Brian worked!), drop off the movie, and get groceries! Yikes! All done now though. The rest of the evening's plans consist of Brian going for a run in the cold, eating dinner, folding laundry, and relaxing. I'm thinking that I
don't like this whole idea of having contractions for weeks and weeks, and I'm hoping this boy decides to make an appearance sooner rather than later. I actually still haven't reached the point of being sick of being pregnant and wanting him out, but the waiting is what kind of irks me. Maybe I'll find myself some raspberry leaf tea.... :)

Anyways! Here's a picture from today:

My own update [36w1d]

Here you go mom, two posts in one day (and Christy, who apparently thinks my first post of the day was "boring").
So I may not have a medical update until tomorrow, but Brian finally agrees with me that snowp has now stuck his head into my pelvis. I walked up to him and said, "does my belly look lower to you?" and his response was, "uh oh." Which he translated for me to mean, "yes, it does look lower and that means it's getting closer to time for snowp to be born, for which I do not feel entirely prepared."
So here's the picture (please pay no attention to my messy hair and tired eyes):

Finally another belly pic [34w2d]

Greetings blog readers! I come to you this afternoon bearing a new belly picture. Since I refused to stand up every time Brian has suggested taking a new picture and I was finally awake enough today, I decided to try a few shots myself (Brian's at class). I'm hoping that we might be able to get some nicer outdoor pictures of us and the snowp belly sometime soon. The fall leaves here really are a lovely sight....and we still need a pumpkin....hmmm....

We spent the past weekend in Bloomington (as you can read about on our other blog) and since we stayed at the motel 6, which advertises internet access but really just has two phone jacks, I didn't have the internet to entertain myself while Brina rode bike. As a result, I found a lot of shopping. :) I bought Christmas presents (nearly done now I think!), found myself a nice new scarf on sale at Kohl's, and got some baby stuff! I finally bought a baby book, got a cover for the changing table pad, found some side-snap t-shirts for those first days after birth, and a new cross-stitch kit to make a new baby stitching (I'll work on it beforehand and then only have to fill in the birth data afterward). I'm still working on crocheting - it's just kind of transitioned from baby stuff to items hopefully good enough to work as christmas presents for some little rascals I know.

I plan to get the car cleaned out this weekend and get the base of the carseat set up in the backseat. I might even go so far as to make a carseat check appointment since I'm a little anxious about the fact that we have a used carseat. If I had the decision to make over again, I would have bought one new, but since we've already spent the money and Brian keeps reassuring me that it's fine, I'll deal. Also in the plans for this weekend is to start getting together stuff for "the hospital bag." Yes, it is finally time for my over-prepared self to go into crazy mode and start getting stuff ready. All that's left on my list of stuff to have ready for snowp is a bouncer, so I obviously have to move on to something even scarier like the hospital bag. :)

Well, that's all for now. Dr. appt on Thursday, then we have another two weeks from then, then we're onto the weekly schedule!!!
