Callum had his 6 month check up today at 6 months, 1 week and 2 days old. He weighed in at 18lbs 13.5oz (50-75th %ile), his head was at the 50th %ile, and he wants to be just like big brother and got himself to the 95th %ile for height (about 28"). This explains why I look funny when I hold my children. They are giants. :) Callum turned himself red and held his breath when he got his two shots but after some bouncing and consoling, he was totally fine and back to his normal self. What a brave little guy! Now he gets a break until flu shot and Hep B at 9 months.
Callum also had a PT appointment today. His head is finally visibly rounding out! He was an excellent little patient today and did everything his therapist requested. He even turned his face bright red trying his hardest to roll over. And he did it! I have a feeling that in just a few more days, he's going to be rolling all over the place. This should be great for helping round his head some more too.
Daycare is going great. I now watch two little 7 month olds part time. A girl on T, W, Th and a boy on W, Th, F. So we're busy! Callum loves the playmates and Everett loves entertaining the babies and helping out. He's going to be an excellent daddy someday. After the appointments today, our little girl came over and we all took at walk to the library and park. Everett is so speedy on his balance bike now that I have to jog every few steps to keep up with him. We've decided that we're going to try and get him a tiny pedal bike this fall. He totally has the balance thing down now and we think it's time to add in pedaling. He's going to be a biking prodigy. :)
Well, it's time for diaper changes and a bottle!

Sick Baby
Everett officially has his first fever...and it stinks. Right now the poor little guy is lying on my bed with me with his snuggle blankie, a washcloth on his forehead, sucking on his nuk and looking at me with very sad eyes. Today he has just wanted me to hold him. No playing, no hair pulling, just holding. I realized as I kissed his head last night that he felt very warm, so I took his temperature and it was 100.8 underarm. This morning (after he slept allll night without a peep), he was at 100.2. He's been eating, drinking, and nursing just fine all day. He took a nice two hour nap while I was at a job interview and even sat outside for a while. I just took his temp again and it's at 101.5. UGH! I despise this whole "being sick" thing. I wish he would just feel better and go back to destroying the house.
Back to the interview thing - it's sounds like basically the same job I did in my last position but 2 days/week starting out. This would be very nice because I would get out of the house and add a little $ to our household, but I would still be able to spend most of the week at home with the monster. Unfortunately, it is T/W, so I would miss out on the play day they have at the local community center on W mornings during the school year. Oh well.
Ev is now zonked out with his nuk on his chest. sigh.

Much Better!
The terrible, miserable experience of getting shots is now forgotten and I have my angelic baby back! Here he is this afternoon:
Everett even behaved as well as he could for our church baby shower last night. He did get pretty fussy, but hey, he was sleepy! Toward the end of the evening, he just needed some snuggles and fell asleep in my arms. We got some wonderful gifts - books, clothes, diapers, and wipes! - and got to spend some time with some great ladies. Brian even came along (for fear of Everett the Terrible reappearing), but ended up just changing one diaper, and sitting reading his book in the other room the rest of the time. We have started to figure out that Everett will yell at us to change his diaper, which pleases him to no end. We've known for a long time that he hates his wet diapers, but now he's quite vocal about it. We know that his yelling is often a precursor to crying, but sometimes it's just so darn funny, we laugh at him for a while before doing something to fix the problem. Mean, mean parents! One of Brian's advisors also sent us a baby gift - the Itzbeen baby timer - which I quickly realized would have been a lifesaver those first 6 weeks, but it still very handy now. It has four different timers that count up after you hit the buttons (feeding, diaper, sleeping, and other) so you can see how long 'itzbeen' since those events last occurred. Very cool. It also has a night light and backlight! Sometimes, I wish I came up with these ideas....
Also, we got our taxes done on Saturday - yay!!! Instead of putting our entire return into savings like we should, I'm planning to spend a bit of it. We really want a little green machine, so we're going to splurge on that (cats + baby = messy house!), and some will also go to the next dentist visit. Yuck. And of course, most of the rest will be going to our rent since I'm not working nearly as much as I used to. I'm still doing work from home (and about 3 hrs per week in the office with the baby!), and I'll be going back half time later this month, but it's not enough to pay the rent!
Anyway! I am going to take advantage of this quiet napping time before the Ever monster wakes up and possibly work on some cross-stitching. Have a great day!

Shots stink!
Brave little Ever man got his first shots today and he was sooo good! He sure didn't like it, but he got some daddy snuggles and his nuk, and was back to normal in no time. Fast forward 4 hours and all heck breaks loose! After feeding, I went to change his diaper and he starting screaming bloody murder! I got him some more tylenol, tried to snuggle him and gave him his nuk, but alas! he was not pleased. He screamed (in quite a piercing tone) until he tired himself out and fell asleep in my arms, then about a half hour later, his eyes flew open and he started screaming again. Back to nursing. I really hope this does not continue much longer....we have a meet the baby get together tonight...

Big Boy!
Everett had his 2 month check-up today (no shots yet, those are on the 3rd) and did a beautiful job! He is now at 10lbs, 8oz!!! and 23 1/8 inches. That puts him around 10-25% for weight and around 50% for height. Doing good in my book! He also did a superb job at following the dr's light, held his head up like an olympian, and did a generally good job on every little test. We were told to keep doing what we're doing, make sure we're talking to him a bunch and putting him in plenty of different positions. Yay! Everyone who meets him also comments on how good natured he is. That's right! My child is happy and pleasant. HA! And here's a new picture (please ignore any remnant of red eye that I couldn't get out). Brian thought we looked cute on the couch, so he snapped one. Check out that awesomely strong neck! Must be all his yoga (yes, Christy, we did our DVD!).

Getting bigger!
Yesterday we had the big family picture session with Brian's kin. I think the pictures will come out nicely and the proofs should even be ready before we leave town.
In other news, we stopped by Grandma H's clinic this afternoon and got another weigh in. Evy boy is now at 7 lbs, 15 oz! That's four ounces in four days! He also seems to have figured out, as of yesterday, how to suck more efficiently while nursing, which is very encouraging for the process of losing the supplemental bottle.
And now for some pictures!
Here is Brian's mom's old bassinet with butterfly mobile. It's set up in the living room and Ev tried it out last night. He found the butterflies fascinating.
Here's a shot from yesterday's photo shoot. Ev with his doubly great grandpa George (don't you just love his adorable Gap dress shirt?):
Brian chatting with Everett on the living room floor:
Just Everett being unbelievably cute after a great night's sleep:
And here's a funny situation. Brian was pacing the room with Evy last night and I noticed that Nora was pacing with him (helping!). Then Brian started walking in circles around the house and Nora continued to follow without fail. Silly dog who loves her boy....
