Just realized I had this post drafted from November. Oops. Here were some Everett-isms of the fall.
"Mama, you married wee-da (olivia the cat) for me?" Me: "ummmm...no. I did not marry the cat." E: "Oh, daddy? You married wee-da." Brian: "No, son."
Not so funny, but kind of insightful: E: "Daddy fish (the betta that belonged to Brian) died. Just like grandpa." Everett is very aware of the passing of his great grandfather, and while he's not really preoccupied with it, he seems to understand it.
E: "What that?" (pointing to a picture of a howler monkey.) Brian: "That's a howler monkey." E: "Oh. He have teeth?" B: "Yes." E: "Why?" B: "For eating things." E: "Oh. Like my hand?"

Everett
"No, I don't like the big bad wolf one (bubble guppies episode). I hate it. I very hate it."
"Mama! My bike is a deer!"
"Look Cally! You can have your socky (stocking)!"
"Callum is not my best buddy. He is my brother."
"Here Daddy, you have these pickles. Mama no like pickles. Me no either." (as he pulls pickles from mama's plate and puts them on daddy's.)

Everett-isms again
Brian: "The rags got yucky." Everett: "That happens, Daddy."
Everett: "I'm putting my bear in time out, mama." Me: "why?" Everett: "Cause he hit sock monkey."
Everett: (pointing to a picture of a leopard in a book) "What's that?" Brian: "That's a leopard." Everett: "No it's not! It's a JAGUAR!"
Everett: "Look! An airplane! It's way high up in the sky. I wanna go in it. And then we'll go to the airport. And then we walk off the plane. And then we walk and walk. And then we get GUMMY WORMS!" (A fairly accurate recollection of our trip to Ohio this summer.)

Everett the pretender
Everett has learned how to pretend. I mean, really pretend. He's known how to pretend to eat play food, be a monster, etc. for a long time, but yesterday was something beyond that. He was pretending to drive his car downtown to go buy gum (a bit of an obsession at the moment) then bringing the "gum" back to me to chew on. He would then think of a new location (wal-mart, the co-op, county market, mcdonalds) and ask me which direction to go. If I actually pointed out the literal direction of said locations, he would say, "NO! It not that way!" Sorry? It was hilarious. I remember the days of pretending fondly and hope he has a nice long run of living in an imaginary world all from his own creation.
Oh, and some more awesome sayings lately.
E: "I don't like mooses!" Me: "why not?" E: "They could step on me." Me: "Good point."
Brian: "Bye, Everett!" E: "Where you goin'?" B: "To the woods." E: "Oh. You find wolf-es. I no like wolf-es. I scary wolf-es."
E: "I wan watch baby eyening spying time." Yeah, just try and guess that one.... (baby signing time)

Everett-isms
Just a sampling from the past few days.
"Wonder Pets share celery. Maybe I go in t.v. and share celery with Wonder Pets!"
"I not very good at tinker toys." (That one nearly broke my heart!)
"Oh my! Goodness gracious! Sakes alive! Holy cow! Big one!" (saw an excavator working up close)
"I watch a little bit of t.v. please?"
"They're playing football? Oh, I LIKE football! Maybe I play with them. They squish me?"
Me: "Guess what." Everett: "orange!" Me: "orange???" Everett: "we have some orange." (He was apparently still thinking about what he wanted for a snack and I had moved on...)
(To Brian) "I like bein with you. With no one else."
(To a daycare baby) "You crawled! Hooray! Good job!"
"This sharp?" Me: "yes, so you shouldn't really touch it." (orange peeler) Everett: "I be really careful."
"You singin backyard?!?" Me: "umm...yes." E: "WHY!? It stuck in your head?"
"I need some snuggles" (as he lies down on my lap)
