Usual summertime

It's been a while since I blogged.  We haven't been super super busy, nor has it been utterly boring.  It's just been the usual, so there's not much to write about.  Let's see what I can come up with.

5K Training - I am now onto week 3 out of 8 in my 5K training program through our local outdoor store.  I'm both impressed and underwhelmed by my progress.  On Saturday, Brian, the boys, and I did my prescribed run in the rain and went 3.37 miles in about 35 minutes (4 sets of 8 minute run/1 minute walk intervals).  Tomorrow I get to do 3 sets of 9 minute run/1 minute walk intervals.  I'm kind of bad at the cross-training since it's hard to bike or swim with babies, and it's now obvious that I need to do some core strengthening too.  I will be signing up for one of the runs at Whistlestop this fall but I haven't decided if I should stick with the 5K or work towards the 10K.

Day care - I got a day care kiddo!  It's a 6 month old little boy who just so happens to be the son of one of my good high school buddies.  I get to take care of him three days/week and while it's been a work-out, it's also been really fun.  He's such a cutie!  I almost had another little boy starting today, but (kind of fortunately) it didn't work out.  I'm happy with just the one little guy, but I think I could manage to take on another kiddo too, especially another part-timer.

Everett - Still two and terrible terrific.  He's working on learning his colors and drew his first face last week.
It's a green robot with eyes and a mouth.  I was so proud.
Everett gets himself up and dressed every morning, so we sometimes have very interesting outfits.  This morning he put on his Big Brother shirt, so I scrounged around until I found Callum's Little Brother shirt.  Ev still loves to match his brother, so I coordinate them as often as I can.
He's a great helper and is currently unloading the dishwasher.  I swear to you.  No joke.  I heard rustling around in the kitchen, went in and he says, "I puttin this stuff way.  I helpin, mama?"  And now he alerted me that my coffee was done rewarming in the microwave.  :)
Everett still needs a nap every day and when he doesn't get one, dinner/bedtime are not nearly as easy as they should be.  He tries begging for "huggers," more stories, his blanket on/off, or telling us that he's "hungee!" (likely because he never sits down and eats!).

Callum - just doing his baby thing.  Getting much too big much too fast.  He's up to 18 pounds (!!!) and has tried avocado and bananas now.  I think we'll try out oatmeal or rice next...
Our little guy is now sitting on his own, with only an occasional falling over.  Even when he does that, he doesn't usually cry much and gets over it quickly, just like his brother.  He loves being on mama's back and will usually fall asleep within a few minutes of being wrapped.  The only thing he likes more than being snuggled and kissed by mama and daddy is his brother.  Everett can do anything ridiculous thing and Callum will laugh a big ol belly laugh at him.  He already thinks his big brother is just the coolest kid in the world.

Well, we need to run off to storytime now and try to keep Callum asleep through the process.... :)

That's so cute how much Everett is helping!! What a good boy!

And I can tell Callum loves his big bro from that avacado video - he couldn't keep his eyes off him! :)
